Many researchers have been overwhelmed by a plethora of conflicting recommendations on design and analysis that still pervade the gene expression microarray literature. This short course integrates fundamentally important concepts in experimental design and ANOVA in helping researchers evaluate design and power considerations for their own studies. The distinction between true experimental or biological replication and technical or subsampling pseudoreplication in these evaluations is particularly addressed as these two levels of replication are often confused with each other.
